That's something that needs to be taken care of right now. The next time you are interested in starting the engine, be ready to do a bunch of tests. Start the tests by looking at the valve train and see if a valve is stuck open. If so, you have found your problem. If not, next do a compression test to identify the cylinder and make sure that the valves are indeed fully closing on that cylinder. The valve that is making a problem of itself may be moving but not closing fully and that will quickly burn the valve seat and you'll have even more

is this a car or truck?

Hubby has a truck in garage...complete but in need of restoring...would love to hook him up with a truck nut (no offense).

Since he won't part with the damn thing (fighting words) he may as well get to know others with a 30's truck.

His is a 34. So far it's sole purpose is storing rugs and straw for the dogs...collecting dust and reaching out and snagging my clothes when I am in there. I am sure it would bite me in the ass if it had teeth.

Tammy, start the process by finding out how the seats are attached to the body (probably some bolts under the truck and pull the nuts off and remove the seats. Next is to start removing other parts from the inside of the cab until there is nothing left in there. Next is removing the front and back windows by cutting the rubber off of the windows - have one of your girlfriends with the windows so they don't break. If that doesn't get him started, grab some paint remover and start removing the paint from the inside of the cab. Generally if you start pulling parts apart, the guy will rant and rave a bit and then get started. Don't forget to put the parts in the bed of the truck in boxes so you don't get blamed for losing parts. At some point, he will start working on the truck or you will get the bug of wrenching. At that point, the truck is yours, not his.
