My Dad has a possible opportunity to purchase a 1950 Ford Business Coupe that has been sitting in the corner of a garage for the last 35 years, before that no one knows. It's all stock. It has some holes in the rocker panels and is missing the front seat. Word is that the engine had just been rebuilt before it went for it's nap. Maybe the owner was going to restore and lost interest. It's a six cylinder, three on the tree. The guy who owned it died unexpectedly and his widow is selling the car. Some people say it's worth a couple thousand US and others say a couple hundred. My Dad was thinking of restoring it as a hobby. Does anyone here have any ideas on what this thing is worth or how I can find out. What is it worth now and if it was a perfect restore what would it be worth later?

Thanks,

This is from the VMR website, http://www.vmrintl.com/ the columns are kind of shifted, but you can easily figure them out. These figures are probably a little high (as most of these type of web sites are) but it'll give you an idea. Oh, they say when the vehicle is incomplete (this one is missing the front seat) to take off 40 to 50% of the number 5 value! So it looks like you're talking about a car with a value of about $400 ($925 -15%, -50%)

1950 FORD DELUXE 239-100hp (8cyl-2V) 3M #5 #4 #3 #2 #1 2dr Sedan 800 2975 6100 8900 12300 Business Coupe 2dr Sedan 925 3400 6975 10200 14075 4dr Sedan 650 2375 4875 7125 9600

Add: Overdrive 3%

Deduct: 226-95hp (6cyl-1V) -15%

Sounds like maybe your Dad could have some fun with it!
