Hello!

I just read some background information about the making of American Graffiti and found out that George Lucas allowed Paul Le Mat and Mackenzie Phillips to improvise smearing the shaving cream all over the 1960 Cadillac driven by the girls who threw the water balloon. But Lucas became nervous about ruining the vintage car when Le Mat started jumping up on it and running over the hood and trunk. Now, further research remained fruitless, so maybe one of you knows the answer: Did the Cadillac suffer damage from this treatment? Was the owner (must have been a car buff) upset, had Lucas to pay a repair?

Greetings,

Good question. But keep in mind that the car was not really 'vintage' when the film was made in 1973
