Trying to find answer to trivia question:

What did engineers come up with to give the 1961 Pontiac Tempest a better weight distribution ?

Any help will be appreciated.

Are you referring to the transmission mounted to the dirrential with the curved driveshaft?

Thanks. That would seem to be an appropriate answer.

And I didn't even know 'dirrential' was a word! I'll have to look closer next time I post <G>

The transaxle and the flex driveshaft were real innovations. They were fully independant rear suspension as well. Cornered like a dream. Some of the buicks and pontiacs came with aluminum v8s that ran well. My car was a 326 tempest in 63.
