Jack, I think you'll have a problem with the paint atomizing correctly, but here are a couple of sites to post your question to..www.autobodystor.com and www.autobodypro.com

Hello,

I am interested in spraying primer (PPG 2-part DP EPoxy) with my Wagner Power Painter (110Watt, 355E). Is this possible, or should I just try and borrow a compressor?? Wagner said to use the 'Green' spray tip.. I am not going to spray the finish coat..

Has anyone tried to paint with one of these for primer??

Thanks!

I've used a wagner with automotive primer & acrylic enamel to spray a trailer - it came out OK, but certainly not an 'automotive' grade finish. If you're planning on sanding out the primer before finish coating you could probably get by.

By the way - if the primer you're going to use contains isocyanates, be sure you wear a supplied air respirator (a cartridge type is not adequate). The isocyanate based materials can sneak up & kill you if you breathe them in.

You don't have to breath in isocyanates for them to cause damage as they are obsorbed through the skin, a full air fed suit and a booth is required.

no , an electic gun with flammable paints , um no . If you don't believe this is risky ask the people you buy the paint from.

How exactly is that risky? People use those guns to spray oil paints and stains that are flamable. I suppose turning on my parts washer, which has an electric pump submerged in flamable fluid, is risky?

Well if that was the case an electrostatic spray gun wouldn't work now would

And the electricity generated is about the same as the electric shock you feel from static electicity. as a mater fact thats the principle. nothing like an electric motor pressurizing volatile based paint to be sprayed. ie the wagner is fine for water based paint. raymond b young
