Just do a Google search for 'chrysler turbine' (including the quote marks). You'll find a wealth of information.

Mike,

I remember going to a outside auto show in Franklin, MI with my Aunt & Uncle & Cousin back in the middle 60's . They had the Chrysler turbine engine car at the show. The things I remember about this car was that it had large round (lights ?) near the center at the rear of the car. The exhaust tail pipes had pretty large rectangle outlets under the rear bumper. When they started this car and standing by the rear end you could feel the exhaust blowing out like two large fans were turned on. The grass was lying flat against the ground at idle. They said that the car couldn't go into production at that time till they figured out how to keep the exhaust from burning the paint off the car behind it at a stop light ! I think this car was Copper in color . Now this is from a '8 years old' memory some 40 years ago.

Here is a link to a google advanced search for the car. Exact phrase 'Chrysler Turbine' .

Only seven short years ago I saw one at the Petersen Museum in LA. It was exhibited right in the lobby. It may still be there...

I read an article or two on the vehicle. Fifty were produced for testing by the general public in 1963. They were painted a copper color...

One of the main problems with the turbine engine was that it only produced a lot of power at high revs, and acceleration from a dead stop was pretty slow because of this. It didn't see regular production because it guzzled fuel and the lack of any low end torque to speak of made it impractical for city stop-and-go driving. It was apparently great for high-speed cruising, though...

I saw one of these cars built as a 1962 Dodge with the turbine engine. It was being promoted at Chrysler/Dodge dealerships in a national tour. Roy

The one I saw at a dealership if I remember correctly was dark blue. I also read an article in Popular Mechanics about a cross country road test in a turbine powered 1956 Plymouth. Roy

Yes, I saw one on the highway just south of Seattle. It had a turbine in it.
