Anyone tried epoxy coatings in our harsh climate? I am moving into a new home (built in 92) with a 3 car garage and I want to know if epoxy, with proper prep, will hold up.

Thanks

Are you looking to colour the floor or just to seal it?

Color it and coat it.

First wash it with a mild solution of water and muriatic acid (about 4 oz. of acid per gallon of water). Made sure the doors are open and try not to breath the fumes. Flush it well with clear water and let it dry for a couple of days. Paint it with a GOOD QUALITY acrylic latex paint and let that dry for several days. When the paint is completely cured cover it with 2 thin coats of an acrylic/ether based sealer. I cant remember the product name but ZIM makes a very good sealer. It goes on milky but dries clear. I use that procedure to paint concrete lawn statues and the finish lasts for several years.

Chuck,

If you want to do it once, using probably the best stuff available and not have problems in our climate...comes in non skid too.

Cost is lower than you might expect and you have a choice of many colors. You'll never have to see this stuff coming off.
