some 55's used the engine block # as the vehicle vin. this is a common problem up to 1955. i have 2 54 chevys that use the engine block # as a vin fortunately i have engine blocks that match. motor vehicles doesn't offer any help the internet does address this common vin problem. i'd get all the information off the internet showing the way it was done in 1955 and request a motor vehicle hearing with an old representitive who may be able to change your vin to the body vin and not the engine block vin.hope this helps. I guess your truck was rebuilt some time in the past. You should check it, if you can with the person who sold it to you and get it fixed. Meanwhile you won't be able to register your truck.

have a 1955 chevy truck...camaro clip. Title does not match vin number on plate inside of door. It is an out of state title. What do I do now?
