Excerpts from netnews.rec.autos.antique: 2-Feb-99 Looking for steering

I've done it myself, you need to take a dremel tool and grind out all the cracks, fill with PC-7, file to shape, finish with spot putty, then prime and paint as you would metal. I've got a '49 Chev steering wheel hanging over my head right now that I did that way about 5 years ago, other than the paint being worn (cheap spray can paint) from being moved so much, it looks pretty darn good.

PS - in case you were wondering why I restored a steering wheel to hang on my wall, I didn't. I actually had a '49 that I was rodding, then I ran out of money and I sold it. The guy I sold it to said he was going to put in a tilt column (ugh!) so I kept the steering wheel (hey, I put a lot of effort into it!)

PPS - if anyone has a good center for the above wheel I'd really like to have it just for the hell of it...
