Hi all! I have bought a 1973 Eldorado convertible from a gentleman just outside San Antonio, TX. I need to transport it down to Houston for shipping it back home to Sweden. My initial plan was to rent a tow dolly from U-Haul but I am having great difficulties in finding a rental car company that supplies cars with a hitch...

So, do you have any ideas on how to solve this problem? A few ideas:

* Have it transported

* The former owner maybe could have it insured in his name and drive ti down (three hours drive)

* Rent a moving van from U-haul also..

Any help will be appreciated...

Regards, /Rikard

The problem with that is that I can't get an insurance as a foreigner (I'm Swedish). Otherwise I would been glad to do that...

You're kidding. Any insurance brokers read this group? Sell the guy a cover note for a few days and let him have a great and memorable trip. Over here in NZ we have Brits and Yanks who store classic cars here for vacations and rallies; they have no problems with short periods on high-value cars.

I do believe that this will be hard to accomplish... It has been possible to get an insurance for about US$ 100 for a month but I think 'they' demand a permanent address in the US now after September 11...

But IF it was possible for a sober 42 year old that has had a drivers license since he was 18 and never had an accident and has a extensive record of driving in the US (get the picture I would appreciate it
