Hi Gang, Just picked up a nice set of 4 hubcaps that are unusual. Hoping someone here can tell me if they are what I think they are.

They are chromed, half moon style hubcaps about 7 or 8' in diameter (they fit my MG-TD !). The words 'Shore Station' are embossed in the middle with an anchor in between the words. The embossed part is painted black. I'd bet they are original as the inside portion of the hubcaps are rusty even though the chrome is nice.

I seem to remember seeing these hub caps on a Jeep in an old WWII movie. The Jeep was being used by MP's. A good friend (that was in the Navy) said he had never seen or heard of anything like these being used.

Can anyone out there tell me what I've got here?

Steve

The hub caps described were used on shoreland'r boat trailers. The company makes shore stations for storing boats and shoreland,r trailers for hauling boats. The name of the company is Midwest? Industries.
