Hi there all. I am located in south eastern wisconsin and am wondering what I should expect to pay (ie: what is the fair and going rate) for restoration body work. I have a 1975 olds 88 convertible which needs a repaint (current paint is awful) and rust repair (minor). Also if anybody has had work done in the midwest and was pleased with it, please let me know the name of that shop. Thanks.

I had a frame-on resto done in East Texas. Paint off to bare metal, windows out, new rubber, primed, two coats of gold metalflake, then 8 coats of Candy Sunset Red, then 4 coats of clear....

Runs about $20.00/hour upto a point, then the rate usually drops. Mine was in the shop for about 2 1/2 months, and the price was about $8000 (of which $1100 was LIQUID, $800 in rubber).

I would suggest looking around in your area. Ask someone that has HAD a car DONE, check out the painter's references and check his work. Look at something he did LAST year and the year before that....to see how it holds up.

Go Badgers!
