I was wondering if anyone could give me a ballpark figure on the value of a 1960 Metropolitan convertible that I looked at today. It needs a complete resto, been sitting for about 8 years. The guy said it ran when he parked it (probably never heard that one before, huh?) and it'll run again with some tinkering, but the brakes were going bad. Decent body, convertible top frame (no canvas top), California black plates, some extra parts, clean underbody and floors, looks to be complete as far as drivetrain. I'm not particularly big into Metropolitans, I'm just looking for something to mess around with in my spare time. He offered it to me for $750, I offered him $500. He's going to call me tonight with a decision (I think he'll probably take it). It would seem hard to go wrong at that price, but like I said, a Nash expert I'm not. Thanks for any info and advice.

Sounds like you have a #5 or worse. These figures were found at: http://www.vmrintl.com/cctm/coll_frame.htm

Remember, different areas of the country, along with other factors, have a bearing on prices .... along with how much YOU really want the car ....... Good luck and I hope he came through and took your $500 offer ....
